After your treatment
You will be given a printed copy of this information at your appointment. It is here as well, so that you can find it later.
Eating
You can eat now. Take care not to bite or burn yourself whilst you are still numb. Numbness usually lasts two to four hours.
Pain
It is normal to expect some pain for a few days after treatment.
If the pain is not resolving, please get in touch.
Pain relievers
Paracetamol or ibuprofen are best. Carefully read the warnings on the pack.
If you have a condition, or take a medication, that makes either of these unsuitable for you, please check with us, your pharmacist or your doctor.
Antibiotics
Call us if you are unsure whether you need to take them.
Contact us straight away if
• Swelling develops in your face, jaw or neck, or swelling gets worse.
• You have a fever, or feel unwell in yourself.
• The pain is getting worse, or is not controlled by pain relievers.
If you cannot reach us, please contact your nearest hospital emergency department.
If a filling breaks
Call us on 0499 024 080 so that we can fix it for you.
Your tooth still needs its final restoration
Once we have finished, your own Dentist needs to place the permanent filling or crown. We will write the date we want you seen by on your printed information, before you leave. Please book that appointment with your Dentist.
Until the crown or permanent filling is in place, take care. Avoid crunching hard things: ice, bones, nuts. The tooth is not protected yet.
Reviews
Where we are unsure of the outcome of treatment, we will schedule a review of your tooth, usually three months later. There is never any fee for a review.
We write to your referring Dentist after every appointment, reviews included, and the report goes out on the day.
After hours
If something goes wrong outside our opening hours, you will find an after hours contact number on the printed information given to you at your appointment.
Anonymous feedback
There is a QR code on your printed information that lets you tell us something anonymously.
Complaints
Please contact us first, by phone or email. We are here to help. If you are still not satisfied, you may contact the Health Care Complaints Commission. Details are on our feedback and complaints page.
