Accessibility
This page sets out what the building and the practice can do, and what they can’t. If you need something that isn’t covered here, please call or text us on 0499 024 080 before your appointment and we will tell you honestly whether we can manage it.
Getting in
The entrance is on Stapleton Avenue, at street level. There are no steps from the footpath. Doorways throughout the practice accommodate a wheelchair.
Treatment in your own wheelchair
If you would rather not transfer to the dental chair, you don’t have to. We can treat you in your own wheelchair. Our chairs are A-dec Cascade, and the headrest can be reversed so that we can work with you seated in your own chair. Please tell us when you book so that we can set the room up before you arrive.
Toilets
There is an accessible toilet with level access in the building, just outside our suite. It is a shared strata facility rather than one of ours. A standard toilet is available within our Practice.
Parking
Two accessible spaces at street level. They are just inside the driveway, on the right. If they are free and you need one, use it. They are not ours to reserve, so we cannot hold one for you.
Street parking is usually the easiest option. It is level and it puts you close to the Stapleton Avenue entrance. Early in the day it is straightforward, and at 7.30am you can generally park out the front. It gets harder as the morning goes on.
We would not recommend the car spaces under the building if walking is difficult for you. The ramp has no steps, but it is steep and the spaces are tight. Our own reserved space is down there, and so are the visitor spaces. They are fine if you are steady on your feet and awkward if you are not.
If parking is a concern, call us before your appointment and we will talk it through with you.
Hearing
We do not have a hearing loop.
If you have difficulty hearing, tell us when you book. Dr Verdickt takes your history face to face and there are no forms to fill out, so the whole conversation happens in the room with you. We can slow down, write things down, or repeat anything you need.
Bringing someone with you
You are welcome to bring a family member, carer or support person to your appointment.
We can’t supervise children while you are receiving care, so please make other arrangements for them.
Language
We do not have an interpreter service. The free government service is not available to private endodontic practices.
You are welcome to bring a family member or friend to interpret for you, and we would encourage it for an appointment where you will be making a decision about treatment. If you would rather use a professional interpreter, you can arrange one yourself and we will work with them. Please tell us when you book so that we allow for it.
